Anzac Day; a special day for Australians. While thousands will head to the official Anzac Day 'Dawn Service' at the Australian National Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, you can enjoy a more intimate service in the stillness of Polygon Wood. The Australians and New Zealanders fought and suffered terrible casualties throughout the Third Battle of Ypres. It is a fitting occasion to remember those that fought in the Ypres Salient in 1916 and 1917.

The day starts with an early pick up (3:30am), from Lille and (4:30am) in Ypres. You will then be escorted by our local battlefield expert via coach to Polygon Wood to attend the very poignant Dawn Service.

Following the service, we visit the Brothers in Arms Memorial, before enjoying a special 'Anzac Brekky' at Johan Vandewalle's wonderful De Dreve Cafe'. We then head to the maginifcent Passchendaele Museum 1917 to enjoy the interactive displays and collection of artefacts that tell the brutal story of the 1917 battles.

From there we visit the largest Commonwealth cemetery in the world at Tyne Cot. The area in which Tyne Cot is located was captured by the Australians and New Zealanders on 4 October 1917, and there are nearly 2,000 Anzacs buried there. We then return to Ypres and a special commemoration 'Last Post' service at the Menin Gate, where the names of 55,000 missing are inscribed.

A truly unforgettable & commemorative experience that every Australian must do!
