My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and Phil just made it. His knowledge was extensive and personal as he had my list of family members and always referred to that so I knew who was where when we travelled along. The effort of visiting both potential fields where Richard Hill and William O’Shea died was very moving he even found me some shrapnel.
The finale of the last post ceremony and laying the wreath was both emotional and satisfying as I felt William can know we have visited him. Phil’s effort of reading a poem at Richard’s gravesite took my breath away, I have attached that for you. Every cemetery was beautiful, sad but inspiring to the CWGC and all that support them.
I will certainly be recommending you both to friends and family that wish to visit their ancestors or simply learn about the significance and history.

I wanted to thank you and Phil for the amazing 3 day battle ground tour Mike & I experienced from in June 2026.
I found the trip exceeded my expectations. I feel I have a greater appreciation of the sacrifices made in WW1. To actually see the place where my grandfather and great uncles fought was a surreal experience.
Phil made the trip a personal experience with the research he had undertaken. Visiting towns such as Bullecourt and Villers -Bretonneux and actually seeing the continued appreciation for Australians makes you proud to be Australian. A special highlight for me was to lay a wreath at Menin gate. The nightly service continues to be an emotional event.
I hope in the future to undertake another tour with DND.
