1-Day Australian Tour - Out in the Somme

Runs twice a week, starting every Monday & Thursday.

Sir John Monash Centre, Villers–Bretonneux, Pozieres, Le Hamel….

Visit the amazing Sir John Monash Centre and see the beauty of the Somme! This day tour takes you south from Arras through the rolling hills and valleys of the Somme.

The Battle of the Somme belongs to the “brutal learning period of 1916” where much had to be learned about modern warfare, the allied losses in the first day of this Battle were staggering. This contrasts to the allied battles of 1918 where, after stopping the massive German thrust known as Operation Michael, the Germans were driven back so convincingly, that they knew it was all over.
